Dear Prof Mangarulkar
I am in receipt of your P. C. of the 23rd and am glad to learn that you would like me to go and play in your college on the 8th February. This I appreciate very much.
It is rather delicate to talk of remunerations but I with to add that when I accepted 260 /- last year it was because I happened to be in the south in connection with other engagements. At the same time I appreciate your point of view. Hence I suggest that you postpone the engagement for the present. After our return from all-India tour I expect to go south like last year when I will be only too happy to accommodate you. I believe you will appreciate my present difficulties as I have specially to rush down on the 8th and will have to take two persons (including “tabalchi”) so that I might find facilities in catching up with our group on the 9th at Kalyan.
After our return I will get in touch with you and my visit to your college during my other engagements will also help you save Rs. 40 /- in your budget.
We will be staging the “Discovery of India” ballet by the end of April. If you happen to be in Bombay at the time, do come and see it. We have considerably revised and improved the ballet. As the season will be already advanced we will have to forebear taking it further south this spring.
With the greetings and always looking forward with pleasure to be in your midst.
I remain,
Yours sincerely
Ravi Shankar
